Hi there, everyone. (please excuse the spelling errors)
This is Ken, Shirley's husband and have good news. The Septal Myopothy went very well. Dr. Zocco said there were no suprises and the myatriel valve did NOT need any work. It fell right back into place and is working fine. He removed a piece about the size of your thumb (1.5cm X 2 cm) from her septem without complications. Her surgery lasted less than 4 hours and she tolerated the procedure well. Yesterday, (Monday), she was off the ventilator about 4 p.m. and was resting pretty well concidering. Her color and bloodflow to her toes was much better than before surgery. Today she is in good spirits and talking, sitting up and eating soft food. She should be moved to the stepdown unit today and have her chest tube and central line removed as well. Hopefully she will be able to go online from there. Thank you all for all the support you have given her through all of this.
She is doing great and may be home as early as Friday or Sat.
thanks again, Ken
