Well, I felt weak, had irratic beats and felt lightheaded yesterday after in the grocery store...my husband rushed me to the hospital and my cardiologist met me in the ER , took and EKG and said I had A-fib (not A tach like they thought). Stayed in overnight..he was going to perform a transesophagus echo to see if any clots formed in my heart to make certain before if they had to shock me back into rhythm. They did not do it as my pulse went down to 50 bpm during the night. Looks like I might be going to an Electrophysiologist at Tufts NECM...waiting for a phone call from Dr. M. just came home from the hospital...I'm a nervous wreck

Re: FOUND OUT I HAVE A-fib-went to hospital
Hi, Cynthia
First of all, take a deep breath and try to relax.
You have hit on something that I, too, have experienced. I had been to the hospital in Sept., Oct., twice in Nov. with what was found to be A-flutters. In all events, I converted without the "shock" treatment.
I was then sent to The Cleveland Clinic for the EP Study with possible ablation. That was done in Dec. Because I have had a myectomy, it made the study a little more difficult than a 'normal' heart, a bit more time consuming, not more painful. I was unaware of the amount of time being spent. I had just asked to be "as out of it" as possible. They did a good job in that respect! I was told to possibly expect more a-fib/a-flutters while healing for a couple of months. I have had a few that I transmitted via an event monitor. They never last very long, just a couple of minutes or so. I will be talking to the doctor in Cleveland after I send the monitor back.
If Dr. M. recommends a consultation, go, ask questions, hear what they have to say.
Good Luck,
DorothyDorothy

Re: FOUND OUT I HAVE A-fib-went to hospital
thanks, Dorothy...I'm glad it worked for you. I had my first episode last May..probably a total of 6 episodes since then...but every time my heart would go back into a pretty normal rhythm...but this time it hasn't. I am better today than yesterday at this time..maybe I felt comfort being in the hospital where they were monitoring me very closely and could relax and rest. I'm waiting for Dr. M to call me . Did you have an EPS study? I was just reading about that on a website\"It is not length of life, but depth of life.\"
