  • Having trouble swallowing

I upped my Diltiazem (CCB) today as instructed by Dr. Gilligan i now take 360mg a day, and i'm still having palpitations and i have also had trouble swallowing today I always feel like there's something stuck in my upper chest, and this dose is wiping me out and the headaches are horrible, I went off my ibuprofen today and started taking tylenol, i can't take asprin so i guees i'm stuck with tylenol as i found out from this sight i shouldn't take ibuprofen, the doctors never told me i couldn't so i thought i could, maybe i'll start feeling better I seems i'm not getting any better, as my meds have been upped several of them, Dr. Gilligan said i'm being DDD paced but my interigation said i'm being paced 98% of the time, i don't know what that means? I hope that my doctor does something soon, i can't take much more of this it's now been a year. and i have felt a little worse each month, i don't know how much is the meds or the disease anymore

    Re: Having trouble swallowing

Shirley, the 98% means that you are paced that much of the time.
the DDD pacing is planned for you to be paced all the time, or 100%, but your heart is sneaking in one of it's own beats occaisionally. You shouldn't notice that. Hope things get better with your meds soon. You just have to keep letting the docs know how things are so they can get the right combination for you. It's really frustrating when it takes so long. Best wishes. Linda

Shirley - Many people take Ibuprofen and have HCM. I am not sure what you are refering to but at no time has the HCMA said anything against the use of this drug.

Not offended, just clearing this up. YOu may have to talk to your doctor about YOUR drugs but in general HCM and ibuprofin are fine.
I have no other choice but to take ibuprofin as ...believe it or not... I am alergic to tylenol!

          Be well!
