  • Is meds really working

I have a question for someone I was switched in November from Beta blockers to Calcium Channel Blockers I was started on 120 mg a day at Thanksgiving the dr. upped my dose to 240 mg a day because of massive palpitations, and he told me to up it again to 360 mg if i continued to have palpitations the palpitations are not as bad but now i'm also haveing alot of chest pain with coughing, I take Spironlactone for CHF 50mg a day, and lasix 40mg a day as needed, I also have noticed my congestion in my chest has gotten worse, i figured the cough was causing my chest to hurt, but i don't know if the meds (CCBs) are causing this too, I'm beginning to think the meds are not working and causing more problems for me, I'm really getting over this med problems, I'm coming up on my 1 year aniversary next month and i still feel horrible

    Re: Is meds really working

Shirley, I take the calcium channel blocker verapmil, 600mg/day. I still have palpatations and chest pain with moderate exertion. Don't know if your chest pains are a result of the meds not working, or just the circumstances, particularly if you are coughing alot. Maybe your chest is just tired of coughing so much. Of course everyone is different!! Maybe the Dr. can help figure why you have so much congestion and adjust something there. That might help both the chest pain and CHF. Good luck.
