About the Author

Largehearted I miss living in Europe, specifically Munich, GermanyI like to think out loud. Some of my ruminations can be found at beinganddoing.wordpress.com. I love to cook and eat, but hate to clean up. I tend to be confident in my opinions, but will change when presented with a compelling enough reason/argument.

  • New type of MRI

Hi folks. Over the holidays I spoke with my electrical engineer brother-in-law and heard something exciting. He began asking me all about my heart and the ICD I have. He had just come from a several day course on heart conditions and implantible devices. When I asked why he explained that they are working to develop an MRI that would be compatible with ICD’s, pacers etc. He didn’t give me a time line or anything, but it was exciting to hear that such a machine is being worked on. I wonder how long that will take to get on the market? Have any of you heard anything about this?

    Re: New type of MRI

Leon, I don't have a lot of info on the whole thing, but it is in the works.

If you do a search on MRI, you will see a post with the above site listed. It has the info on it. I understand some other companies are also working toward the same. The original post was MRI after Myectomy on April 2, 2003. Hope this helps. Linda
