  • Resolution

Lisa---I'm working on the same 10 pounds as you. My resolution is to have it off by May. Because I'm feeling better with the Fabry infusions (Fabry is weird genetic cause of my HCM), it may be easier than it has been for the past few years.

Wonder how many other US citizens have the same resolution? Maybe 80%? I do know that any weight loss for those of us who are not really thin already will result in our feeling better. And I'm convinced that avoiding sugar and refined carbs is important to our overall health. So here's to apples, green vegetables and lean meat in 2004!

      Re: Resolution

I said NO to bad (simple) carbs in 2001 and I lost 30 pounds in about 6 months. Unfortunately I had been "low fat" for so many years prior to that, that my gallbladder freaked out a little over being used again to digest fats. So guess what, I had to have it taken out. I spent all of 2003 being sick with various things including that as you don't get operations in Canada the same day you show up with a problem, even if it's gallbladder pain.

2002 was one of my best years ever due to being slim and trim and active outdoors and symptom free. But 2003 was not good at all and now that 2004 is here, so is most of the 30 pounds I had lost. After a tough year with a few ups and a lot of downs I hope I can take it off again, but I just don't know if I'll do low-carb again. Lately I feel like maybe I can't do anything I used to do. *sigh*

It did work though - just keep track of your uric acid and have your blood work done before, during and after so you KNOW what is going on and can stand up to the flack some friends/family will likely give you for your diet choice. Interestingly, not a single one of my doctors objected to it.

If you have any low-carb or no-carb questions, please feel free to PM me as I was on low-carb for 18 months.
