I got a copy (transcription report) of my 1-9-03 echo and found that the hypertrophy was left ventricular. Also the report indicates thickening of the mitral valve leaflet, mitral valve annular calcification, mitral regurgitation and tricuspid reguritation. I have stopped my tropol and norvac. My heart rate really increased, which I called my doctor's nurse who said this was normal when getting off tropol. My resting heart rate is in the high 90's and 100's upon excertion. Also experiencing PVC's, I will be seeing a new cardiologist at Wake Forest on December 4 to see if I need another echo and what meds I should be on.
Thanks for all the advice from this forum and keep up the good work. All of you are wonderful people for providing support and updated medical treatment. I will post results of my visist. Again keep up the good work.

Pat, why did you stop the medication?
Every great thing that has ever happened since the beginning of time has started as a single thought in someones mind.

        Re: Update

        Glen,

I stopped my medications because it was dropping my blood pressure and heart rate to low. I was on the lowest dosage possible. My blood pressure is still on the lower end but heart rate this am is 97. I'll see what the new dr. says. I also suffer from cornary artery spasms.

        Happy turkey day!!!!!!

          Re: Update

Pat, I have a similar problem, my blood pressure is OK, but my rate is often below 50 and I am on a very low doseage of beta blocker.
The last time I was at my HCM Doc he indicated that if we could not correct that problem with the meds we may have to look at a pacemaker.
All in all, I feel just fine, but he doesn't like my rate so low.
          Isn't this fun!
Good luck with your new Doc and Happy Thanksgiving to you also.
