I am having my surgery on Tuesday morning at UAB. I appreciate all the information that yall have given me. It has really helped to ease my mind. I am still a little nervous, but I know it is for the best. Keep me in your thoughts and I will be posting again on Wednesday as soon as I get home. Thank you!

Hi. My husband got his in Aug 2000. He went in about 9 am and was out at about 10, 10:30. He went home at about 4 that afternoon. In fact, when they brought his lunch at 12:30 he ate the whole thing. I hope this gives you some encouragement.

Hello,
I know it is not the nicest thing going in for surgury of any type. Even worse is when they tell you they are going to tinker with your heart, as we have all grown accustomed to our own no matter how "unique" it may be. HOWEVER, once it is over you will have your own personal emergency room with you 24/7! While nothing is fool proof, when living with HCM having a battery backup is sure a nice feeling. So as you go in for your procedure think about how nice it will be afterwards and the sense of security you will soon have 24/7.
You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
All the BEST!! and let us know how you make out!
