I would like to have anyone's imput about specialists at the Toronto's Sick Children's Hospital. I have a chance for me and my daughter to go to Toronto to be checked out. I will be checked by Dr. Wigle who did my surgery 1987 and they said that they would set up appointments for my daughter at the Children's hospital. Has anyone taken their children to this hospital and if so what were the good and bad things about it? This is going to be a costly trip for us so I just want to make sure that I am doing the right thing.

Re: thinking of going to toronto
There are a few out here who have used this center. It is the best place in Canada for kids, as far as I have seen and heard.

Re: thinking of going to toronto
Karen, Dr. Wigle is my doctor, but unfortunetely I have no experience for Sick Kids.
It's reputation is world renowed and if Dr. Wigle is going to refer you then I would think you are seeing very good specialists for your daughter.
Good Luck.Every great thing that has ever happened since the beginning of time has started as a single thought in someones mind.
So if you are capable of thought then you are capable of great things
Good luck and stay well.

Re: thinking of going to toronto
Hello
I have a follow up appointment in the next couple of weeks with Dr Williams at Sick Kids. Dr William preformed my myectomy a few years ago. He was an amazing doctor. He still checks up on me.
My cardio doctor is Dr Wigle, I give him a lot of credit. He is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to HOCM.
At the time that I was told that I had HOCM I was living in Victoria BC and did everything in my power to get in to see Dr Wigle and the HOCM specalists in Toronto. They seem to be the best care avalible in Canada for those of us with HOCM.
If you have any question let me know. I wish you and your daughter the best.

Re: thinking of going to toronto
That is weird. Dr. Williams was the other doctor who helped Dr. Wigle when I went to Toronto in 1987. They must still work together. I feel pretty confident that I will take my daughter and go, just waiting now to find out about our money situation. Thanks for all your responses.Life is too short to worry about the trival things in life, So live life to the fullest.

My error and boy is it a biggie!
Dr. Bill Williams, one of the best surgeons in HCM and one of the most wonderful people I have had the oppurtunity to met is at Sick Childrens!
He is a wonderful doctor and a sweetheart of a person! I am so sorry that his name and the center did not click right away!
Best to all!

Re: thinking of going to toronto
When I first had my surgery in 1987, he assisted Dr. Wigle. Dr. Wigle was just getting into the surgery and Dr. Williams had performed 70 on children. I really liked himand Dr. Wigle. I am hoping that my daughter can get him too. Thanks everyone.Life is too short to worry about the trival things in life, So live life to the fullest.
