    Re: hocm and pneumonia

    Hi Daniela,

Andrew went through a period of years where he was sick almost 9 months straight every year, being healthy only through the summer months. He would get back to back illnesses, (ear infection, strep, flu, bronchitis, ect...) Like linda mentioned with her son, after about the age of 11 Andrew's winter illnesses have gotten much less frequent.

Hope Matan is over his soon!

    Re: hocm and pneumonia

    Thank you!

It seems this time he got every thing toghether! stomach, diarrhea, lungs, throat.... He is now more than 10 days at home.
Today for the first time I felt he is better and also asked to go to school.
We were lucky to have holidays for "SUKOT" so I was able to be with him and he was not absent for long time from school and me from work...
Today we will have a check up to see if the infection is over.
    Best wishes for you also.
    Daniela.

Daniela, The pneumonia shot only protects against that one type of pneumonia, (pneumococcal), but it is one of the more dangerous. The flu shot only protects against the current flu strain that is expected to be most common for that season. So, you still have all the other strains out there that can sneak up on you. My son seemed to do much better by about age 8-10 with the respiratory bugs. Up to that point, we seemed to have much the same with bronchitis, croup, etc. The air passages are so small in little ones, that it doesn't take as much to block them. Just keep pushing the liquids unless your doctor has told you otherwise, remember good handwashing, not sharing cups, etc, after others, and try not to let him get overtired. Best wishes, Linda

    hocm and pneumonia

    Hi ALL!

I have the feeling that my son is having to many cases of pneumonia.
He has his vaccination against influenza and pneumonia - but I do no think it helps.
    Any ideas?
