    AS & HCM

    Does anyone know if there are any links between the inflammatory joint condition Ankloysing Spondolytis (AS) and HCM? I read that it had a mild effect on the heart and that it too is a genetic condition albeit with a lower chance of it being passed on, 1 in 10 I read. I know my dad had both of these, would the AS have any effect on how well the ECG and Echo would be able to detect HCM?
    Any info would be greatly appreciated and would provide some more answers for my family.

    Dx age 12 current age 46 and counting!
    lost: 5 family members to HCM (SCD, Stroke, CHF)
    Others diagnosed living with HCM (or gene +) include - daughter, niece, nephew, cousin, sister and many many friends!
    Therapy - ICD (implanted 97, 01, 04 and 11, medication
    Currently not obstructed
    Complications - unnecessary pacemaker and stroke (unrelated to each other)
