Has anyone on here had a watchman procedure? I will be having one probably next month. Can't take anticoagulants because of history of GI bleeding. Still having AFib & have a pacemaker. Thanks

Just now seeing your post. I didn't know anything about this procedure till today, interesting! I was recently prescribed anticoagulants by my cardiologist, but also have a history of GI bleeding, and am being treated with iron infusions to treat my anemia. I refuse to start the anticoagulant until I speak with my electrophysiologist, and my GI doctor, because I don't want to risk worse bleeding. I wish doctors would communicate with each other and treat our bodies as a whole, instead of pieces. Wishing you all the best, would be interested in an update from you.

Cheryl….sorry. I am just now seeing this post. My GI doctor won't let me go on anticoagulation's (except short time) because of my history of GI bleeding. I had been in/out of hospital for bleeding for years but finally had colon resection last year. He still doesn't want me on them. I continue to go in/out AFib so cardiologist wanted me to have the watchman (I had to get my GI doctor to OK in writing that I could take anticoagulants for a short period of time). Got in surgery & they couldn't implant one because my opening is too big so am back to square one. Looking to have a Pul. vein ablation with LAA closure. Waiting for pre-authorization as doctor & hospital is out of network for me where he wants me to go.
