  • Warning--don't take Avandia

Last week some news stories broke about some diabetes patients developing dangerous fluid build-up from taking Avandia. I have complained about fluid retention, but the Doctors didn't seem to see any problems with my medication.

After seeing the news reports, I decided I would not take Avandia again, and I saw my Dr. and went on long-acting human insulin injections. Within 2 days I shed 7 pounds of water weight and I can see the bones in my ankles again. I hope none of you are on this medication.

      Re: Warning--don't take Avandia

I'm feeling a great deal more hopeful about my entire situation. Much less joint pain and finding it easier to exercise. I was thinking that my ablation helped some, but it looked like I was going into big time CHF!

My Dad had diabetes and had to take shots. I gave them to him often, so switching wasn't a big learning curve for me as it is for most people.

The new long acting insulins and hyper-fine syringes make living on insulin much easier than it was in the past. The pills aren't worth it if they give you water retention problems.
