how hard is it to get a disabled parking permit? I have to walk a block to get into the building then up a flight of stairs to my office. I am beat before I start work.

Re: parking
The procedure probably varies from state to state, but I am interested in this too. I would like to get one to use as needed.
I have a 2 year old son, and when I am alone with him, and I have to carry him plus walk a long way, it is very hard for me., while when I am alone and don't have far to go, its fine.
I would be interested in knowing how many HCM'ers have one.Daughter of Father with HCM

Re: parking
It works pretty easily. Go to your local department of motor vehicles (or whatever it is called in your state) or check online with them. The forms are pretty standard and you can usually download them. Then, take it to your HCM specialist or cardiologist and he/she will have to fill it out. From there turn it in and you are set. I got mine in 45 days in Massachusetts and there is no fee and here they are good for 5 years. Get one, it is a life saver!

Doug - You are 100% correct it is easy. Get a form bring it to your doctor and WALA! parking permit for those days you need it!
I have one... it took me a few years to admit I needed it. I do not use it all the time but when I need it it is there! I look at it this way...do I want to use all my energy walking into the mall, store, theater...or wherever or would I rather use that energy to ENJOY MYSELF!
I pick ENJOY MYSELF!!

Re: parking
This posting moved me to inquire about getting a permit when I was at my doctor's office. He even had the form there, signed it for me, and I have already sent it in. Much like Lisa, I don't need it all the time, and won't use it unless the situation clearly calls for it, but its nice to have in just in case.
I took a class with my son this summer, and had to park in a parking lot at the bottom of a hill, and then push my 30 lb. son in is stroller up the hill. By the time I arrived, I was half dead (and did I mention that there were handicapped spots right where I needed to go!)
