Hi, I have made an appointment with the Cleveland Clinic for September 3rd. I will be able to stay with family in the area, so that should help. I am going to see Dr. Asher. Has anyone been to him? I think all the Dr. at the Clinic are good. I am just a little bit nervous. I don't know why, I have an ICD I don't think they will do anything like that anyway. I have a long time to get it all in my mind the right way. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Re: got an appointmet at Cleveland Clinic
Hi, I go to Dr. Asher. I've been going to him since I was diagnosed with HOCM in 2000. I really like Cleveland Clinic, they are very professional and usually on time for all tests, appts, etc. Everyone at there seems to understand how far you have come for these appts. and makes every effort to be accomadating. Dr. Asher is very nice, professional and from what I've checked has many HCM patients. If I had any complaints about him I guess it would be that it seems like I have to pull the information/results of my tests from him. He does not give out the echo results (like gradient, thickness, etc) freely. He once told me that numbers don't have a whole lot of meaning compared to how I am feeling and how my symptoms are. He also knows that I am still very fretful about this disease and worry about everything. His office is very good about faxing me the reports later so I get the information eventually. He does return phone calls promptly and listens to all your concerns.

Donna,
Many of the HCMA's members see Dr. Asher. He is a very good doc. and has a very good understanding of HCM. You are in great hands. Good luck on your appointment!
