I am scheduled to go to Cleveland Clinic and meet with Dr. Lever June 18th. We are driving from Oregon and would appreciate any tips on places to stay close to the hospital or within 1/2 or to 3/4 hr drive.
Thanks in advance
Diana and Mike
P.S. We may change our minds and fly but at the moment it's drive and see the country.
You know, maybe we should have a space on the website for information like this. I have seen similar questions posted in the past and it might be helpful to have available for visitors to this site who are suddenly finding themselves making a trip to a specialist based on information found from this site.
I ran a quick search for "cleveland guest" using the search link above and selecting the "Search for all terms" options. Here are the results. Take a look at these past posting for some good information on where to stay:
We have stayed at the GuestHouse and at the Suites hotel. I hear that they have just opened the new Hotel and I am sure that is nice too. Additionally, we have stayed in the Beachwood area for some good hotels right off of the bypass and in Solon for a stay at the Homewood Suites. However both of these stays required a 30-45 minute drive to the hospital in rush hour traffic so be prepared if you choose those locations.

Lodging around the Cleveland Clinic can be an adventure. There is nothing in the surrounding area. You have the hotels on campus, and then as Tim posted, in the Beechwood area which is quite a drive and then you need to deal with parking.
I have always stayed at the Guesthouse. It is reasonable $85/night and convienent, just hope on the shuttle bus. The other hotels are nice too but pricey.

Tim & Bob, thank you, thank you, thank you. Lisa you too. I got a call yesturday from the Concierge for the hospital on discount airfare. So far we've only played phone tag but I'm sure we'll connect.
My wife and I stayed at the Intercontinental and the service was fantastic. It seemed as if there service was customized to accomodate patients/families coming to the CCF for surgery or evaluations. Good luck with your visit, you are in great hands with Dr. Lever.
My wife and I stayed at the guest house on the cc campus - a block away from the heart center. It was relatively reasonable and very convenient and took the worry away of driving and traffic etc....we walked to my appt with Dr. Lever -in the snow- but were glad no driving was involved.
Chuck brings up a great point about staying at one of the hotels considered 'on campus' (The Guesthouse, The InterContinental Suites Hotel or the The InterContinental Hotel & Conference Center) is that they are so close to the hospital. You don't have to worry about parking, traffic, etc. What is also really nice is that if you don't want to walk to/from the hospital you can take the complimentary shuttle bus as well provided for those hotels on-campus.
Take care everyone,
Lynn

Thanks to all who gave input on accomadations. We will be staying at the guesthouse and will arrive on this Tuesday, the 17th. 1 day after my 45th birthday.
Incidentally all I was born in Cleveland and my parents moved to the west coast when I was 2. Don't remember much so it will be exciting to see the place where a lot of my family originated.
Have a nice time in Cleveland...try to get some fun stuff in while you are there! I know when we spoke you told me this is where you were born... I hope you have a rewarding visit "home".
Lisa
