what is the difference between what are referred to as "premature" beats and V-Fib? I've gotten these skipped beats and very short fast flutters that last maybe 3-4 seconds ...waiting for Holter results from NEMC..

Re: Ventricular fillbrilation
Dear Cynthia,
Premature beats (PVCs) are heart beats that literally start too early in the heart beat cycle --before the hear is ready for next one. But the heart is still keeping to a regular rhythm best it can.
VFib is a completely random heart beat that is also fatal. It is not to be confused with atrial fib which is when the top half of the heart is beating randomly, but the ventricles are beating normally. You can live a long, long time in afib with the right treatment.
We all have a little flutter from time to time. PVCs are very common and not a major concern.
keep us posted,
S
