just a quick question. Lisa said that you should ask your Dr. about your gradient if you are obstructed. What would be considered within normal range and when would surgery be suggested? Thanks

The normal heart should have a gradient less than 10 mm. As for when surgery (or ablation) is recommended is more based on symptoms and quality of life rather than gradient. This just means that the trigger for advanced treatment will be different for each person.

Dx age 12 current age 46 and counting!
lost: 5 family members to HCM (SCD, Stroke, CHF)
Others diagnosed living with HCM (or gene +) include - daughter, niece, nephew, cousin, sister and many many friends!
Therapy - ICD (implanted 97, 01, 04 and 11, medication
Currently not obstructed
Complications - unnecessary pacemaker and stroke (unrelated to each other)
