  • Pacemaker after myectomy surgery

I have lived with HCM since I was 10. I am considering the myectomy surgery and was told there can be a possibility of having a pacemaker afterwards. I have a bundle branch block already on the opposite side of where the surgery is to take place. Has anyone else had the myectomy and ended up with a pacemaker?

Yes. I had a myectomy in 2006 and ended up getting a pacer in Oct 2012. I was having syncope issues and my EP determined that I had complete heart block from the myectomy. I feel pretty well now. No more fainting.
