  • Coughing & rapid heart moment

I have been noticing lately that when I feel my heart has a little race and then it passes I now cough right after that? Any one had anything like this?

Also I love my cardiologist and he belongs the biggest Cardiac Care Unit in the state of Oregon. I have been hesitant to go see a HCM specialist but because I was diagnosed with HOCM and have multiple serious illnesses maybe I need to bite the bullet and go see a specialist? Sounds like San Diego is my closest bet. Oh darn I'd have to back to that beautiful place for a visit. Any way I would appreciate input from all of you out there who are wise in this area.

    Thanks in advance.

    Dear Diana,

Coughing can sometimes be a sign that your lungs are trying to clear themselves of fluid that builds up when the heart isn't working efficiently. If you are having little runs of palpitations, then you need to find out what kind they are.

Please call the office at 973-983-7429 or e-mail them and let them know you need contact info for a specialist on the west coast. They keep all that info there.

    Take care,

Diana, you need to talk to your cardiologist about this problem, esp if it is new for you. Have you ever talked to your cardiologist about seeing an HCM specialist? It would be nice to be working together on a consult with a specialist. You might even get a suggestion from that office that would be the same as the one Lisa gives you. Linda
