I just got a dual chamber ICD/pacer the day before yesterday for many of the same reasons. My heartrate dropped into the 30s and I needed to take more beta blockers that I could tolerate with the bradycardia.
My symptoms weren't really being controlled with the low dose of beta blockers I was taking. I was told to double my dose from 25 mg. taken 1/2 in the a.m. and 1/2 in the p.m. to 25 mg. in the am and 25 mg in the p.m. I am still working on it, because I am scared to do it at once...am increasing gradually.
I hope it will work better, but I can tell you that my blood pressure does seem to be higher since the implant, and my HR doesn't drop below 60 now, and I think I feel less tired.
The surgery itself wasn't bad at all. I was released from the hospital 15 hours after surgery and really felt like I could have gotten up only a couple of hours after..they wouldn't let me for about 10 hours.
Good luck, and let me know if you have other questions.

Dr suggest dual chamber ICD unit rather than single chamber
Because of significant change in heart rates below 50, my dr is suggesting a dual chamber defib/pace maker. I just would like to know if there should be other things we should try first.
Currently taking only 5mgs of zebeta a beta blocker. Can't go without it because of significant HCM.
This is my first posting here so not sure how to do it.
