I need advice!
I was born with a heart murmur which I was supposed to grow out of. When I was 17, they did tests showing I still had a heart murmur. I was put on a heart monitor for 24 hours. They said my heartrate jumped from 70 beats a mintue to 120 for no reason. I was supposed to go back and do the heart monitor for 48 hours but I never went back.(long story).
In January, I was put on a diet pill called Phentermine. I lost 17 pounds in 2 and a half months. But within the last few weeks I have been having bad shortness of breath and unexplainable chest pain. I get dizzy everytime I stand up, lay down or when I'm just sitting. My doctor wants to do a electrocardiogram but I dont see my doctor till the end of April. I'm kind of scared and dont know whats going on. Anyone with advice or suggestions please help me!!!!!!!
Thank you,
jennifer

Dear Jennifer,
Please call your doctor's office and explain how bad your symptoms are and ask to be seen right away. If they won't see you, just go to the ER the next time you are dizzy. You should be evaluated right away. This is the kind of situation where you are much, much, much better off safe, than sorry.
What kind of insurance do you have? Can you go straight to a cardiologist without a referral? If you call the HCMA office at 973-983-7429, they may have the names of any electrophysiologists in your area.
Please write back and let me know what happens.
take care,
Sarah

Jennifer,
BE Careful! If you feel you are not feeling well and are unsure of the cause seek out help right away. Call the dr office and explain your symptoms, be clear, calm and direct. You must understand that doctors have busy scheduals BUT they do leave room open for urgent cases.
Do you have any family history of heart problems or early deaths??? This is a key issue.
call the HCMA office if you want to talk further.
Best wishes,
Lisa
