  • Help with Echo Results Please

I know you guys must be sick of me by now but I would like info on my echo that I had a couple of weeks ago! Maybe after this I can shut up for a while! LOL Any info about the seriousness etc. is appreciated. BTW, it appears to me that my hocm may have improved a little since the last one. Let me know if you also think so.

    IVSD 1.5CM
    LVPD 1.6CM
AO 2.6 CM (A YEAR AGO IT WAS 3.3)
EJECTION FRACTION 78% (IT WAS IN THE 90s before!)

    2-D IMAGING:

    1. Aortic Valve: Trileaflet with minimal thickening consistent with aortic valve sclerosis. No significant gradient. No aortic insufficiency.

    2. Mitral Valve: Appears normal. There is mild systolic anterior motion of the mitral valve leaflets. Trace mitral insufficency.

    3. Normal pulmonic and tricuspid valves. Trace tricuspid insufficency.

    4. LV chamber size is within normal limits. LV contractility and wall motion appears normal. Normal left ventricular ejection fraction. There is a hyperdynamic contractile pattern. There is moderate septal hypertrophy and mild to moderate posterior wall hypertrophy by 2D imaging. The peak LV outflow tract gradient was 31 mmHg. Post valsalva gradient increase to 49 mmHg. Left atrium is mildly enlarged. (last year the gradient was 75mmHg and with valsalva it was 113 mmHg. Seems like this has lessened!). Also the first year I had this the gradient was in the 90s. Is it possible for this condition to improve with no treatment??) Sure wish I felt better to go along with it!

    5. RV size and function appears normal. Normal right atrium. blah blah. Also with the very first echo when I was diagnosed I think my septal thickness was a 2 and now it is 1.5 I think. If I am reading correctly. Thanks for any info! Kathy
