Margie, I'm curious. You've had a myectomy so your cardiologist must have referred you somewhere for that. Have they not asked for followup? Ask your doctor about that too. Linda

    Hi Margie,

In my case, as long as I thought I was doing fine, my local felt he was treating me OK and never brought up going to a specialist. I was the one who broached the idea. While he did not have a problem with this, he was not actively recommending it either.

You need to get the kind of care you want. If you want to see a specialist go for it. Even if they just confirm your current status, it will give you a good piece of mind. Be proactive.

Margie, I would think that he would want you to been seen by a specialist. If not, it alludes to him not being very secure. (Just my opinion.) I do not think it's unreasonable to refer you to a specialist. Does that answer your question?

Mayo Clinic is out of the question- if not symptomatic

Is it unreasonable to expect my dr. cardiologist to push for me to be seen
at Mayo or Cleveland if I'm doing fine now? I'm just wanting an evaluation
from a hcm dr. I've had 2-ICDS and new leads and myectomy in the past
3 1/2 years. It would make me feel better if I could be seen where this is
seen more often. I like my cardiologists but he doesn't have much
    experience with hcm.
    I'd appreciate any input.

    Thank You,

    Margie
