  • Good Movie

The other night I rented a movie called John Q with Denzel Washington.
It's about a young boy, his son, about 9 years old.
One day while playing little league baseball he gets a hit and while rounding 1st base collapses and they rush him to the hospital.
The Cardiologist there tells his parents he has a condition where the Septal is enlarged with myopathy and that his heart is 3 times larger than normal.
They said his only hope was a heart transplant. I won't go on about what the result was or what happens next.
When he collapsed I thought no way.
Then when I heard the diagnosis, they said everthing except actually call it HCM.
Besides relating to the condition it was a pretty good movie.
    Thumbs up!
Every great thing that has ever happened since the beginning of time has started as a single thought in someones mind.
So if you are capable of thought then you are capable of great things
    Good luck and stay well.
    Glen

    Glen,

I've heard heard of that movie. I think I'll have to rent it for myself.

Wait! We watched that movie right before I was scheduled to go to Mayo to have myectomy. I was having trouble with my insurance company at that time and we weren't sure if they were going to pay for the procedure. My parents were really freaked out! Thank God everything worked out great.

It really is a good movie.

In the movie the boy had dilated cardiomyopathy. As did the best friend in Beaches.

          "Beaches"

I am pretty sure that the Barbara Hershey character in "Beaches" had viral cardiomyopathy!

Viruses cause dilated cardiomyopathy... so yes you are right...but here is a tid bit... her mother also died young from a heart problem... we now know that dilated cardiomyopathy may be genetic and as many as 20% of cases appear to run in families.

              yup

Cynthia is right, it was viral cardiomyopahy in "Beaches," but still --very interesting anyway.

I saw something recently that I may remember soon --on tv some person had a disease and it was HCM even though they didn't say so.

                Memories..

Isn't it sad that you saw something that you "may remember soon?" I have the same problem....things retreat somewhere back into the subconscious, and maybe one day you will find them again, and maybe again you won't!

You would think we were 100 years old!
