What do you guys do for chest pain? How do you determine if its just plain old

IHSS or something else...Do you usually have problems with hypertension, CHF,

etc., along with Cardiomyopathy ? Thanks for any feedback...

first all you need to confirm that HCM (IHSS) is the diagnosis (basic I know but still that is step one).

You need to talk to your dr re your symptoms and have them evaluate your entire history. Chest pain can be caused by many things and only you and your doctor can work together to get to the root cause. Some people with HCM have CHF and some have hypertension.

If you are have frequent episodes of chest pain it may be a sign of progression of the HCM ...or it may be nothing serious at all. Sorry for the vague response...but it is not a perfect science.

Thanks Lisa, and i've had all the tests, some two to three or four times. They were done over a period of a year to year and a half. I've had confirmation of HCM by three cardiologists at two diffrent medical centers. Have diag's of Hypertension, CHF,elevated cholesterol levels, type 2 diabetes and take (7) med's just for these

conditions..Seems as if everyone is of the same mind (Dr's.) just progression of the disease, see you in Six months..

Sometimes I get an ache or dull pain and mine has been consistently during times of stress: when I was being diagnosed with HCM; job-related stress, etc.

Good luck.

Stuart,

Is the pain new, or is pain one of the symptoms of your HCM? If it is one of the symptoms of your HCM, has it changed in frequency or severity? What activity triggers the pain? Has that changed?

You have a number of risk factors for coronary artery disease (CAD), and there is no law that states that CAD and HCM can't occur in the same person.

Better to be safe than sorry. Bring this to the attention of your cardiologist.

Best of luck,

AlecW

Not an HCM doctor, but a doctor with HCM
