    [NC Doctors]

I would like to know if anyone is aware of any HCM specialists at Duke University or University of NC. I have three grandsons who have not been tested for HCM and they live in this area. Their pediatrician keeps telling the parents that there is no rush in having them tested. I have HCM as does their uncle (my oldest son).

    Dear Pat,

Please call the office at 973-983-7429 and LIsa will talk to you about pediatric specialists and she has good tips on how to encourage screening without upsetting the parents or the kids.

A pediatric cardiologist/electrophysiologist at Duke University Medical Center named Ronald J. Kanter worked briefly with my wife's nephew. I do not know if he was an HCM specialist but he seemed to certainly know a lot about it. The telephone number there is 919-681-6772.

    Best wishes.
