Lisa ... all is well. Please call us at 843-876-3912 as Dad is requesting to speak with you personally about ICD's/pacers. He definitly needs one, (which we are relieved to learn), but Dad was told by his local cardiologist that:

-Electrophysiology studies, EPS in HOCM patients have been inaccurate leading to 50% failure rates in ICD's when they should have operated leading to sudden death. Is this so?

Is this true? Dad trusts you and your knowledge so if you could call him back he would greatly appreciate it! PLEASE call! : )

Sarah -- thank you for bringing this message to the top.

Dad is being taken for the EPS study around noon and will have the ICD put in tomorrow by Dr. Gold.

Hope to hear from you soon! I hope being on line in his room isn't tying up the line ... there are three phone lines of which I am using one!

I've never heard of a hosptial room having three lines --or are you in a hotel?

You may want to go off-line just in case.

    S

Query --why are they doing an EPS study at all if they are not accurate and they have already determined that he needs an ICD????

Hi! 3 lines! They wound up moving dad (us) into this suite from the CCU! This place is like a hotel ... the room has an extra room with a pull out couch, fridge, etc! Anyhow ... they are doing the EPS today in order to figure out how to program Dad's ICD/pacer. They want to see if they can recreate the V-tach from the other day and all this will help program his unit the bext they can!
