    [To Mary re ICD site]

At one week post-IDC implantation you still have quite a bit of swelling. Your implant will go from seemingly coaster-sized to almost the silver dollar size (but thicker) that was promised. I am 4 months out and I would guess mine was down to the final size after 2 months, maybe even less. But not one week. And the bruising.....that took a long time to go away. Now at 4 months, this thing is almost part of me, just like they kept saying it would be. Sue

The best thing about my AICD is its in my lower abdomen. So you can never tell if its swollen and honestly since Ive gotten older and gained 20 pounds since Highschool you cant even tell its there..LOL

Mary... 2 people I work with at the "real" job are at DIsney this week... I told them to look for you! Dan K. is there with his wife and grandkids and Pam, my assistant is on her honeymoon! So if you see them say HI from ME!

I hope your feeling well and I know in a few weeks it will be like it is part of you... no big deal!

    All the best!

    BIG HUG

    Lisa

    Thanks Lisa,

I will definatly keep my eyes pealed out for them! Hopefully they will drop by at night. That is when I typically work and it is normally at the Forest!

As for the ICD goes it really is not affecting me mentally. The swelling and soreness of my entire shoulder is really getting me. Today was my first day back at work and at one point my shoulder hurt so bad I was ready to go out to my car and get the sling for the rest of my shift. But I survived and hope the pain is not as bad tomorrow. Any tips for getting through this would be awesome my muscles at my neck and shoulder area are so tense that it feels like a rock.

    thanks,

    mary s.

One more question! I am not sure if I should be worried but I am one of those who have a very low normal tempreture as well 96.8 is my norm. But the past couple of days I've been feeling kinda ugh . I checked my temp this evening and I am running 98.8. Should I be worried about this since it is only one week after my ICD ? I know they said to be careful about infection until the staples came out and that was about three days ago. I guess I am just being paranoid but I tend to have the worst luck in the world. Thanks for letting me ramble.

Your temp can rise slightly with that lovely time of the month too or ovulation ...give that some thought... If it goes any higher call your doctor and get some antibotics...

    all the best!

Oh Mary... re the sling... I used mine when I had to walk around or be up for a while the two weeks. I did a bit of a frozen shoulder by the second week to stop using the sling.

But into the fourth week I hung wallpaper in my kitchen.... I Probably should not have done that... all is well now.

Good news! I went for my ICD interrogation today and it has not had to do anything! It didn't even have to pace me at night when I'm sleeping. Which the docs thought it might have to do.

I finally gave in yesterday to the sling at work after my boss said "Wonderwoman can leave the building now and Mary can come in and wear her sling to work" I really at that point wanted to slap him for his comment but I will get sweet revenge today because it is his 50th birthday.

Also, Lisa I wanted to say thank you again for helping me get through all of this. I think that If I had not found this site I would have still been battling the docs or just believed them when they told me nothing was wrong and tried to go back to being normal without any meds or ICD. I think the peace of mind of the ICD and just knowing for sure about my condition may have helped me health wise as well. Lisa if you get a chance can you give me a call on my cell phone. I want to know if there is anything I can do to keep the experience I had up there from happening to anyone else. The more research I do the more I don't like what happened especially with the EPS study.

    Thanks again,

    Mary
