    For Lori

    Happy Birthday to my sister.
    She is not here to blow out candles on a cake.

    The last birthday we shared together was 10 years ago.
    It is amazing to me that it has been 10 years.
    So much has happened - but the pain of her death is still so raw.

    Lori loved the strangest foods - - her favorite birthday cake was white cake, pinnapple filling and marzipan frosting.

    In honor of Lori's birthday the HCMA gives you all a gift.
    With the help of Tim Stewart, Kelly DeRosa and our moderators the website has been updated and the message board has some added areas.

    I wish you all could have known Lori - you really would have loved her and she would have loved having you all to talk to.

    I am going to ask you each a favor -- in honor of Lori's birthday please commit a random act of kindness. During her life Lori was very kind to others, in her death she was an organ donor and gave life to 3 who surely would have died with out this gift. If you have not already done so please sign an organ donor card and share you wishes with your family to be an organ donor - while we can not give our hearts there is much else we can give to help others.

    God bless Lori and may she continue to watch over us all.

    lost: 5 family members to HCM (SCD, Stroke, CHF)
    Others diagnosed living with HCM (or gene +) include - daughter, niece, nephew, cousin, sister and many many friends!
    Therapy - ICD (implanted 97, 01, 04 and 11, medication
    Currently not obstructed
    Complications - unnecessary pacemaker and stroke (unrelated to each other)

        What a team you and Lisa would have been to inform and help others with the same heart disease.

        I didn't know you, but I'm sure you were as comforting and helpful as Lisa.

          You will always be remembered. I am thankfull that even though you had to leave, we have all been helped and kept together in a big family that you will always be a part of. God bless Lori.

            You are truly missed and greatly honored by the great works of the HCMA, your little sister, Lisa, and all the wonderful souls that make the HCMA a wonderful place to learn, to grow, to mourn, to laugh, to cry and most importantly to find new ways to live!

            Blessings to Lori in heaven as we are blessed here on earth from her life that continues to touch so many!

              Today is a special day to share special memories of Lori. She told me once how fortunate she felt to have 2 wonderful children. She knew how serious her heart condition was, but she wouldn't change one thing about her life. She said, "It's been a pretty good life, even with all of this".

              I saw her as such a kind, gentle, and easy-going person. I can still see her just smile, shake her head, and chuckle a little at someone who would be getting so excited and dramatic at whatever little thing.

                Lisa,

                I will commit the random act of kindness for Lori, in memory of her. I will do it tomorrow!

                This is the most wonderful site, and, I think, such a special tribute to her, that just keeps going and going.

                The gift of this website, and the HCMA, to all of us, and anyone who wants to visit, is just so immense.

                Thank you Lisa, and also, Lori, for the gift of knowledge, hope, and new friends that the HCMA has brought.
