  • On The Last Day of the First Year

My friends – and you are my friends - - ‘cause who are you to tell me who my friends are anyway? Oops, - let me start that again –
Dearly beloved - - no, I did that one over 48 years ago –
Friends, Romans, Countrymen – nope, that isn’t it either –
    Let me just say –

T’was just about a year ago
When I sat down to my first post
I tried to make it all just so
And now the year is all but toast.

I’ve made some friends along the way
And shared some happy times, and sad
Now at year’s end I’d like to say
That posting here was not half bad.

Even though with all those yammers
    I can’t believe the posts I made
I would bet some silk pajamas
I couldn’t post more if I was paid.

So ring the bell and chime the chime
And send the year to well earned rest
I’d quickly bet a dollar to a dime
That you folks here are all the best.

To all you over tolerant people – I love knowing you.
