  • Sudden Instant death without any indication whatsoever on the deceased

    Hi,
    Sorry for a lengthy one.

I lost my 17 year old SON 15 days back. I would like you to throw some light on the cause of his demise. The events on that day were as follows:
    1. Sumedh (my SON) played almost the whole day which was his routing on every SUNDAY.
Came home around 7PM in the evening & was quite active till 8.15 PM. At this time around he sat on the couch & passed away instantly without any indications whatsoever to any body in the house. He was admitted to the Hospital in 5 minutes time but declared "Dead on arrival".

He was operated for VSD 13 years back & the operation was 100% sucessful as per the doctors during the followup for subsequent 2 years.

Last year we had a followup check up with 2D echo showing certain problems in the Aortic pumping. A small membrane was observed below the Aortic Valve which hindered the pumping a bit.

Please advice as we are quite confused on this issue.

    Thanks & regards,

I want to offer my condolences on the loss of your precious son. I know it's difficult to call the US from India. If you would like to contact our HCMA office, you may also send a private message to Lisa Salberg or send an email to [email protected]. The staff in our office will be more than willing to help you sort through what happened and try to give you direction on where to go from here. Welcome to the HCMA, although I'm very sorry you've had to find us.

                  Hello,
My name is Vikas and I am from Chicago. This is my first email. I was recently diagnosed with HOCM. Is there a well known cardiologist in Chicago. Do any of the hospitals in chicago treat this condition ?

You are in luck. There is a HCM specialist at Northwestern.

Also, you should call the HCMA office and set up a time to discuss your situation. It would really help you understand what is going on.
