Your septum can increase at any age. It is just more likely to happen in the teen years. Many people aren't even diagnosed till their 50s.
This is why the recommendation is to get screened every few years.
However, it is true that there can be a bit of variance due to changes in where the measurement is taken and the equipment, etc. So if you are in doubt, get another echo and continue to get echos annually.

It could be that it's progression. It could also mean that the technicians measured differently and got different readings. I think it's something you need to ask your doctor.

If someone who had a reading septum reading of 0.9 cm at 33 yrs old then 10 years later there wa an increase to 1.3 cm would this be indicative of HCM progression or would the increase mean that its not HCM since it would have showed up 10 years previously on his echo if congentive.
