Thank you very much! I have an appointment at Mayo Clinic, my cardiologist wants to look further into it. Since posting I have had an Afib run and a non sustained vtach run. I believe she is going to have a CMR done.

Please seek out of one our Centers of Excellence for proper diagnosis, if you are from the US. https://www.4hcm.org/coe The tests you had done may not have been conducted properly or read properly by doctors who are not as familiar with HCM. You can also have a parent call in to our office for a planning session, after submitting your records to us for review.

Should I look for a second opinion?
I’m a 17 year old male, I play soccer and I run Cross country. I noticed I started to have symptoms with exercise. They were shortness of breath, chest tightness, and if it was an intense exercise I would faint. I thought I was just out of shape due to my knee surgery a few months back. A month later I had what the doctors thought was an afib episode and fainted. I was taken to the ER and the ECG showed left ventricular enlargement. I went to an endocrinologist because my TSH levels were high. I was told that my thyroid levels wouldn’t be causing any problems with my heart. I had a stress test, and I had an abnormal blood pressure response, and an impaired cardiac output. After this I had an echo done which turned out normal. I was told my symptoms would get better with time and exercise. A couple months went by and nothing was helping. They then started me on Beta blockers, my chest pain is better. I still have an exercise intolerance though. A few weeks after the beta blockers I was given another ECG which again showed Left ventricular enlargement. The doctor said it was fine because my echo a few months back was normal. I do have a history of a thyroid disease which can be a cause of HCM. Am I grasping at straws or should this be investigated further?
