    Hi everyone, thank you for being here! Has anyone met with Dr. Zahtka pediatric cardiologist at the cleveland clinic? If so, what was your impression? Is there a specific hcm excellence center better for pediatrics?

    I don't know Dr. Zahtka, but I'm sure you and your daughter will be in good hands. Please let us know your experience once you've had the appointment. I'm sure others would like to hear your experiences.

    Husband has HCM.
    3 kids - ages 23, 21, & 19. All presently clear of HCM.

      Both our daughters have seen Dr. Zahtka at CCF and not only is he great as a pediatric cardiologist but he is a hoot too! I think he uses humor to keep the situation less dramatic for the kids who are being poked and prodded. I'm not sure where you are from but it is my understanding that there is a wonderful pediatric cardiology group in Cincinnati who specialize in HCM.

      Hope all works out positively.

        Yes, Dr. Towbin is the specialist in Cinncinatti...we have not seen him but I know many others have and love him.

        Gavin diagnosed at 3 1/2 yrs old - Mar 2009 w/HCM, Gene mutation identified 7/09
        Younger brother (Cullen) - born 7/08, gene negative but still being screened on occasion due to his brother's "unique presentation" - meaning there could be another gene involved
        Husband (Chad) - clear
        Myself - Positive for gene mutation (identified 10/09), echo negative but diagnosed with mild regurgitation of the mitral, tricuspid & pulmonary valves
