  • not feeling well

    Hi everyone,

I've been in bed like 8 of 9 days now, but try to get up every now and then. Got hit with a mild, lingering cough virus for 16 days now and have become intolerant for 2 months of even a speck of my betablocker that is 3.125 mg of Carvedilol. I'm on antibiotics. Luckily, I pleaded for an echo which I am due - a 6 month echo which I haven't had for 8 months, which I will get on the Jan 31st. I tried to reinstitute my betablocker twice in the last 2 weeks but I get intense chest pain, my toes swell up, and I'm back in bed. Yesterday, I got intensely weak and in pain like a knife in my chest. My family member took my blood pressure and temperature. It was 88/53 and my temp was 96.8, and my BP monitor detected an arrhythmia. I'm actually feeling better because I can write here. Yesterday, I was really weak and in bed and took a 3 hour nap in the afternoon. Every time I get up or eat and drink, I have chest pain and get tired. I don't feel congestive but have lost more weight. It's been a roller coaster, feel better, then feel worse. Some nights I can feel my heart working so hard. I also have developed right side frontal abdominal pain which gets worse when I'm retaining fluid. I feel that I have to eat small, frequent meals to help to alleviate weakness and chest pain. I have to watch eating or drinking warm food because it drives a knife in my chest. I'm keeping in touch with my doctors and trying to get better for my echo appt.
    Keep well everyone.

    Re: not feeling well

LJ, I have that cough virus too. I have been in bed myself for the last 10 days. I think I may hack up a lung soon! Fortunately, I don't seem to be having heart symptoms but this a nasty bug, I can sympathize. Hang in there, and do stay in touch with your docs. I am also on antibiotics, and have one inhaler, but may ask to switch for Xopenex tomorrow instead. I myself have been running a low grade fever.

        Re: not feeling well

I sympathize LJ and Cynthia, as I got hit with that bug over Christmas and it has taken a full month for me to even start feeling normal again. Spent the better part of January in bed and at one point I put on about 6 pounds of fluid. The coughing is absolutely the worst I have experienced in my whole life. Just when you think you can't possibly cough any more without seriously hurting yourself, it starts all over again! This is one nasty bug and it seems to linger forever. My best to both of you. Jim
