  • transplant and fund raising

It has been a long time since I have posted, (4 plus years), but unfortunately over the last several years I have gone into end stage. My local cardioligist here inTulsa referred me to Integris Baptist in Oklahoma City for transplant and I have been going through the evaluation process during this month. ( Boy they sure take a lot of blood!)since I am type O blood, I may have a longer wait than others with different blood types. What has been others experiences during evaluation and did anyone use outside fund raising to help cover non covered cost? Thanks for your comments

    Art -

I am so sorry to hear that you have reached this point and I honestly do wish you the very best.

A very good friend of mine - someone I met on this forum - is going through the very same thing you are. He is also Type O and since he lives and sees doctors in Boston he will most likely have a much longer wait than the average person. I am going to contact him and have him write to you.

When i went for my evaluation i was told i would probable be waiting a while cos im such a tall person im 6'2f that they needed to find a bigger person like me but i only had to wait 6 weeks and things have never been better sine, as for fund raising i was lucky here in NZ they pay for everything medical care gas money to get to appointments a place to stay when i had to stay over night for my appointments they ever give my mum a place to stay for 3 months why i was in hospital as the transplant hospital is a few hours away from my home town.
