  • Does anyone have any information about Scott?

I had met Scott Stanley at a HCMA conference in NJ a few years back. It appears he hasn't posted in a while. He had a transplant. I think of him often. I sent him a private message but not sure he will every read it

Cynthia, Scott is doing great we connect every few months. He is feeling great and is busy with work, kids and life. He just does not get onto our site anymore. Rest assured though he is doing well.

        HI my name is Carol

        Hi my name is Carol,
When I read one of your posts my heart went out to you, I am a single mom of three now grown children. I was diagnosed in July of 2003 and had alcohol septal ablation by october of that same year. I know my situation was very dire and it saved my life. I was wondering if that was an option for you to do? if not, how come?

        Praying for your Miracle,

Re: HI my name is Carol

Carol - I am not trying to answer for Cynthia since I do not know her full situation. However, I wanted to let you know that ablation is not the answer for many people. In fact, it is only really best for a small subset of patients who have significant outflow obstruction and who, for various reasons, are not able to have a myectomy which is an open heart surgery which also addresses outflow tract obstruction. Alcohol septal ablation is definitely not the answer for most people on this message board. I believe that Cynthia is not obstructed, but has other issues with atrial fibrillation and heart failure that would not be addressed by either alcohol ablation or myectomy and that is why she is now being worked up for a transplant.
