Re: anyone who took milrinon via PICC line?
I went home on the PICC with Milrinone. I had it for almost 4 months then I got my heart. I want to say that I felt better on it as far as SOB and energy then I did before. They had to increase my dose on a Wed and I got my heart that Friday. I called it my miracle drug as it kept me going until my heart came. I do not recall any tummy issues but then that was over 7 years ago and I to do this day blame any issues with my body on medicines. They can effect your GI system. Keep me posted on how you are doing.Midge

hi Midge
Thank you for your reply. That's true....it's keeping me alive during this period. I am still waiting for lung tissue result- another 3 weeks or so....seems like an enternity.... I just want and pray to get on the list. If you dont mind me asking, did your blood type have any part in getting a heart fairly quickly? I was told some wait months or even years!\"It is not length of life, but depth of life.\"

Re: anyone who took milrinon via PICC line?
Actually, my type is O+ which is the most common and they said that the O's usually wait longer. I am also small, but they said that was in my favor as small hearts cannot go in large people as it would be able to maintain its function. So, while O+ was against me, size was for me, I still waited a total of 18 mos. Only 4 on the Milrinone. It does move you up the list.Midge

Cynthia-
Emily was on milrinone for the short wait she had before she received her heart. She was kept in-patient. But it was a wonder for how much better she felt on it. She has had lots of nausea problems on other drugs, but in the short while she was on milrinone, she did not have any.
