    myectomy and heart failure

    Hi everyone

    I have a couple of questions...

    -- Are the chances of a successful myectomy greater if there was no heart failure before the surgery?

    -- I wonder how many people have had successful myectomies with class III/IV diastolic heart failure before the surgery?

    (I have not heard from Cleveland yet. I called them last Tuesday, and she said the doctor has not had a chance to see my echo films yet. Maybe they'll call soon.)

    When I am feeling this tired and weak all the time, I get discouraged.

    I wonder how many people who have been in my situation, class III/IV heart failure went to a class II after a myectomy.

    Diagnosed at 31.
    Cardiac Arrest 2003, RF Ablation in AZ, no positive result -
    First ICD 2003 - In 2006 lead went bad, abandoned lead, threaded new one & new generator
    Myectomy 5-5-05 at The Cleveland Clinic - Dr. Lever & Dr. Smedira -heart surgeon.
    Currently have Grade 2 Diastolic Dysfunction with pulmonary hypertension & pulmonary edema.
    My brother passed away suddenly at 34 yrs old from HCM.
    2 teenage children, ages 17 and 15.

    Ok you know what happened to me being i'm trying to get on the list and i had moderate to severe heart failure, i still think the myectomy helped some without the obstruction my heart is better then it was before it is better because i have really no gradient to speak of just this stiff heart, which in turn keeps me short of breath and tired and the chest pain is horrible
