I'm non-obstructive but have a massive septum measuring 30.5 mm (pacemaker and defibrilator implanted for risk of sudden death) . I have symptoms that include daily palpitations, several runs of tachycardia and some chest pains. I know that my size septum could cause problems later as I age such as afib, systolic anterior motion, diastolic dysfunction and risk of stroke. My question is, with all of this looming over my head for the future, should I look at a myectomy now? Would it allow my heart to function better and eliminate some of the conditons I could develop if I do nothing? Also, does anyone know anything about the increase risk of stroke for HCM patients. My doctor has never mentioned this but I read it is a real concern in a Cleveland Clinic article.
Thanks!
