    hi all joe from buffalo here after being in preop for 5 1/2 hours ready to go they rescheduled me for tomorrow ????????5am/////

    Hi Joe, I'm sure this is seeming like a major setback to you, but if everything wasn't in order, it's better to wait. You don't want to take chances. I remember once having to tell a patient at 5 am that his doctor was sick and the surgery had to be postponed. He threw a royal fit, but I wouldn't want a doctor to operate on me when he wasn't feeling in tip-top shape.

    Best wishes for a perfect day tomorrow, a speedy and uneventful recovery. Please try to have someone give us an early progress report. Linda

      Good Luck Tomorrow, i'm sure everything will be fine i had a myectomy 10 moths ago and i'm up and around, it's really wasn't as bad as i thought it would be, just the first few days but watch the sneezes and the coughs, make sure you hug a pillow and carry it with you when you get up to do anything, Again good luck and keep in touch

              Update on Joe B

              He had his operation on Thursday the 30th. First thing in the morning they took him to surgery at 10:30 he was on Heart/lung machine and at 11:30 am the called and said all was good. They did a myectomy, one bypass and a mitral valve repair. Today is Saturday and he is walking around and doing all the things he is supposed to be doing. you can find more info on this web site www.thestatus.com paitent name bethge and password bethge1

                  On your surgery, it is tough in the beginning but it does get better just do as your doctor says and you will be up and going before you know it

                        Diagnosed at 31.
                        Cardiac Arrest 2003, RF Ablation in AZ, no positive result -
                        First ICD 2003 - In 2006 lead went bad, abandoned lead, threaded new one & new generator
                        Myectomy 5-5-05 at The Cleveland Clinic - Dr. Lever & Dr. Smedira -heart surgeon.
                        Currently have Grade 2 Diastolic Dysfunction with pulmonary hypertension & pulmonary edema.
                        My brother passed away suddenly at 34 yrs old from HCM.
                        2 teenage children, ages 17 and 15.
