  • Alcohol ablation

    Hello,

Are there any folks out there that have had alcohol ablation done for more than a year? If so, could you let me know how you have done or how you are currently doing?

    Thanks,
    Paula

    Re: Alcohol ablation

    Paula,
I am 20 years old and I had my first alcohol septal ablation in April of 2003, then had a second one 3 months later. I am doing quite well and have a new grip on life. I would like to let you know more but i am late for class. I will write more later.

      Re: Alcohol ablation

      Hi Paula,

I had my Ablation done Jan.2003 @ MUSC in Charleston S.C. I was an amazing and life changing event. I was to the point of giving up. I have since lost 70 lbs and walk 2 or 3 miles a day 4 or 5 days a week.
Thats not to say it was perfect. I still have regular PVC's and recently I have begun to have near syncopy spells and a small gradient. But as to how I feel???? Fantastic!!!!
Who knows what the future holds for me. Im going to talk to an electro doctor about an ICD.

          almost 5 years post ablation

I had my ablation done in Houston almost 5 years ago. I'm feeling great, I do several aerobics classes every week and feel 100% better than I did. I'm now 49. My resting gradient prior to my procedure was 100. It's now below 20 and holding....At the time, Dr. William Spencer was the main US doctor doing ablations. I would recommend him without hesitation. He is now in Charleston, SC.
