Hi everyone
Well, I did it! Had my alcohol septal ablation on the 7th. It was very scary for me. I was told I was going to be put to sleep and then they couldn't find the doctor so they went ahead but when they tried to give me pain meds my blood pressure went too low so basically for 3 and a half hours I was lying there scared out of my mind. I felt like someone was standing in front of me with a hard ball and whipping it at my chest 5 times. When the surgery was over my heart went into Afib for 5 days and finally went back into normal sinus/r. I had to take sooo much medication to prevent clots. I hated all those blood tests I had to take while on Coumadin (warfarin)!!! When I got home I was sooo scared my heart was going to go back into Afib but to this day I'm still ok (thank God). The doctor says it may have been a one time thing.......... (I soooo hope so). Other things went wrong to like my temporary pace maker falling out and them stiching it to my leg...Ouch! To make a long story short. I didn't have a very good experience but I do feel better now - a lot! If everything continues to go well then I guess it will have been worth it but for me it was a terrifying experience. This was just my experience. I would NEVER want anyone not to have an ablation because of my opinion! I was on the treadmill last night for 20 minutes and when it was done I was like - Wow that went by fast. Normally I checking the clock every two minutes wondering when it would be over....That's a good thing. Oh ya! I went shopping last weekend and walked for over 3 hours in the mall. I said to my daughter. Do you realize I haven't had to take a break? She said "Ya that's right". Bottom line there are many advantages to an ablation.
Take care everyone. Sorry to go on so long!
