  • felix is doing great!!!!

this is felix's wife. I finally was able to get a computer to use (a friend
who lectures at emerson college). Anyway, felix's myectomy was perfect!
The operation itself had no complications and his pressure gradiant is
now 0! he was out around noon , and they he woke up around 4:30.
He was really pissed about that breathing tube. they did not remove
it until around 6:30 and he wanted it OUT!!!!! one it was out, he felt
great. he was joking around and was in a really good mood.

this morning at 11am he went to the step down unit. All morning they
had him sitting up, but moving in and out of the wheel chair brought
on some pain because of having the chest tube still in. I really hope
he gets that out this afternoon. His mood is still good, but its part of
    his ups and downs.

overall this is going better than he expected and we are all pleased.

lisa, et Al, the phone number, if anyone wants to call, is
    617 636 7329 for the room

Sandy, I am so happy to hear how well it went for Felix and of course for you too . I think it is sometimes harder in a different way on the caregivers. Tell Felix to take it slow and all my best to you both. Pam

Wonderful news. I'm sure we'll hear directly from Felix once he's able to use the computer. It's wonderful to hear these wonderful success's especially for us folks heading for a myectomy.

                Felix,

                God Bless You!

                  Re: felix is doing great!!!!

since they took the chest tubes out today things have gotten much better.
He did walk a tiny bit today and is sitting up more. basically , except
for Oxygen as of right now, he is nothing else really attached (and
the local stuff around the incision for pain)

next week, when he is home, I am sure that he will be visiting the boards
and giving the blow by blow .

                      Re: felix is doing eh!!!!

from what I understand his heart rate is a bit high today. Also he is
not feeling well since he has yet to get a good nights sleep and not
                      really motivated to do stuff.

I hope he still is set to come home on tuesday, but I am ready for
just about anything at this point.

he does say that he is not really in that much pain anymore and that
it is getting easier to get in and out of bed.

I think it is important for Felix to know this is a process...and it will take a little time to feel "good" - Can I hear from some post myectomy people for some information on what Sandy and Felix should expect in the next 3-5 days.

                        Take care of yourselves!

                          Re: felix is doing eh!!!!

                          pam and doug,

I would take it, that not feeling well and not being motivated 4 days
out is normal. I am wondering if either one of you can give him a call
tomorrow at 617 636 7329. I figure a "pep talk" might be nice from
someone who has been thru this. I remember the first night out,
once the breathing tube was out, he was so elated that it was over and
                          felt like his life was beginning again. now he just sounds depressed;
he never wants to even talk to me and its so hard. I love him dearly
and want him to be better, but I fully believe that 50% is physical and
50% is mental, and the mental does not seem to be there now.

I am on the phone with felix as I am typing - He sounds very good at this point... he is recovering and hoping for a good nights sleep, which I think will make a world of difference.

                            His gradient is now 0!
