    The light at the end of the Tunnel

    I am going in for a myectomy on Wednesday at the Toronto General Hospital. I am a little scared but mostly excited. My mind is dancing and my body just has to catch up. It has been a long two years since I first came to this website. I got rid of the incompetent doctor I had and got a HCM specialist (on the advice of Lisa). There has been alot of ups and downs the past two years, but without the post I have read on here I am not sure I would have survived with my sanity intact. I know it's here somewhere! The light at the end of the tunnel just got very bright.

    Anyway a BIG thanks to Lisa for the HCMA.

    Robbyn,

    My thoughts and prayers will be with you. I'm sure the knowlege that your surgery will lead to a better quality of life is very exciting.

    I am going in to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore tomorrow for an "alcohol ablation". It will be done by Dr. Alan Heldman and my HCM Specialist is Edward Kasper who was also recommeded by Lisa. I, like you, am excited about getting "it done" and looking forward to a better quality of life.

      Wow guys you are bringing tears to my eyes! I am thrilled for both of you! It seems like such a long road with a welcomed stop over, with hopefully some relief of symptoms for both of you.

      I will keep both of you in my thoughts tomorrow as you both have your procedures done!

      Please have someone post on the board and let us know that all is well.

      You may feel alone as you enter the hospital...but you are not, we are ALL with you in spirit!

      lost: 5 family members to HCM (SCD, Stroke, CHF)
      Others diagnosed living with HCM (or gene +) include - daughter, niece, nephew, cousin, sister and many many friends!
      Therapy - ICD (implanted 97, 01, 04 and 11, medication
      Currently not obstructed
      Complications - unnecessary pacemaker and stroke (unrelated to each other)

              I must admit there are days when 'it all' gets to me and I get a bit overwhelmed with all the good that has come from the HCMA.

              When I hear of people getting the care they need it is very bitter sweet for me, as my sister did not get the care she needed. I am thrilled each time someone gets to a specialist, has a needed procedure, finds a better understanding of HCM and to have more medical professionals understand HCM... so yes, at times I sit here at my desk in tears of joy for you all.

                Robbyn, has been awhile and I have wondered how you were doing.
                I'm really glad things are moving for you now.
                By the way, I live closer to you now, in the summer we moved to Scogog Island in Port Perry, just around the corner from the Casino.
                Anyway I wish you good luck and you'll be in my thoughts.
                Every great thing that has ever happened since the beginning of time has started as a single thought in someones mind.
