  • singulair hcm and sinus infection

Hi all I have been really ill lately with a sinus infection for a few weeks and it seems to be trial and error lately with my primary care doctor. They gave me augmentin for an antibiotic but I haven't improved. My symptoms are sinus headaches, sore throat and earaches. Now they have put me on singulair because they told me I need a decongestant so when I told them I was a heart patient And couldn't take anything over the counter they simply Prescribed singulair. This was all done over the phone. My doctor was off for the weekend and I was working so They called something in without verifying me what it was. I am not a happy camper. singulair is a asthma medication and I am not getting better they are saying it is safe and that it has helped people with sinus problems but it looks like this week I'll be making another doctor visit. Everyone have a great week

i can't imagine what kind of person would presribe singulair for a sinus infection. i just read the web site and it goes on and on about how it inhibits an underlying allergic thingy and doesn't claim to do anything for congestion at all anywhere and in fact, congestion has nothing to do with asthma. if i were in your shoes, i wouldn't take it and i would call them back and ask them if they have medical degrees from accredited universities or from the classified ads in Rolling Stone. but that is just me. ; )

you can take claritin (regular, not D) and benadryl without any cardiac worries or generics of same.

    feel better,

Clarinex, (desloratadine 5mg), made by Schering, is sold OTC (No Presciption) in Canada as "Aerius". It costs $1.00 Canadian ($0.75 USD) per tablet. While it is classified as an anti-histamine, it also has anti-inflamatory properties which works as a decongestant on the nasal passages.
