Re: My Father - Larry Flanigan

You know it is a big place, one can get lost.............

In all seriousness, I hope all went well with good success and that he is off the vent quickly and no post surgery complications.

          Update 7:20pm
          Hello all,

He is all set in ICU and sleeping like a baby. He woke enough to move fingers and toes on command then back off to la la land (very medicated until morning).

He looked very good. Good color and no real swelling.

Mom and I are beyond tired and we are going to catch some sleep. Getting up at 4am and running around a place this size all day is draining.

Thanks to everyone for the kind thought, posts and messages.
Big thanks to Linda Price for that info earlier!!

          more in the morning,
          Lisa

Wow, your Dad has really been through a great deal.

That is a bit more than he planned on having. He could not be in better hands than yours and the Dr's. Thank God he has you by his side, to comfort him and to advocate for him on his behalf.

It will only get better from here.

                      Lisa,
Sounds like all went well. Nick Smedira likes to keep us on our toes and change plans once he gets in there. Seems like he covered all areas and dad will be hopping around the golf course in no time. I'm sure you and mom are exausted. I can just see ya'll running around that place, it wears ya out.
I'm sure you'll both sleep well tonight.

The ICU teams are great and you can call at all hours and they'll keep ya posted. I'd call in the middle of the night when I woke up, to check on Tommy and they always came right to the phone and gladly up dated me.

Sending many positive thoughts and lots of prayers. Give "mom and dad" hugs from us all. Take care and remember to keep mom and you feed.
There are places that will deliver to the hotel, if you and mom get tired of the "International cafe". There's also a great place over at the "Crile Building"
(Skyway elevators to the 3rd floor, skyway will take ya right to it's doors). By the way everything is half price over there after 4pm.

                      Love and prayers!

                          Hi all,
I just spoke to the nurse and he had a good night. Some small issues but nothing bad. He is listening to commands and is not too freaked out about having the "TUBE" in all night.

We will see him at about 10am and I will update after that.

                          More later

                            Update 3:15pm July 21

He is doing well. He is still on the vent but not because of his heart or lungs. His kidneys were not functioning well this morning but they seem to have kicked back into action. There was a little 'drama' this morning just before we got over to see him - his B/P dropped too low too fast but they were able to get him stable again.

As of a few minutes ago the nurse said he was doing very well and they were cutting back on some of the post op meds. I hope to see him off of the vent tonight. He is actually far more understanding of the vent then I thought he would be.

I spoke to one of the surgeons today and they confirmed that they did also do a Right Atrial reconstruction. So the tally stands at 7 cardiac procedures! UFF DA and we thought it was going to be 2 maybe 3.

He was in good spirits this morning. Those who know him best can guess what hand gesture he gave when we told him to be nice... Yup George you guessed it

See if you can get him a room with an aquarium or fish tank. Then, steal some dental floss and a safety pin from the nurses station and let him get in a little fishing.
