Well today I got the call from school - Becca's heart was racing and her chest hurt - Becca is now 9.
I told the nurse to have her lay down and give her some water. She said OK - I said I will call you back in 5 minutes. I called my local Peds Cardiologist - I was going to bring her down to the office - but unfortunately they could not see her - so off to the ER for Miss Becca.
She had an echo - no real big changes - but her heart is hyperdynamic. She will go back for a holtor Wends. and follow up with a stress test next week.
In short I think I am now the mom - I have been the granddaughter, daughter, sister, aunt and friend of someone with HCM - now it appears that my role will be the mom - I would rather have HCM twice! But then again we do not get to choose our paths sometimes do we.
Becca is a real little charmer - the folks at the ER could not do enough for her. She said mom do ya think I have HCM - I said well sweetie I think so, how does that make you feel? She looked at me with such honesty and said - I would rather not - but OK. She paused and started talking about the barn and what she planned to do to jump better next time.
The moral of the story - life goes on... LIVE IT!
Take care all!
