    Long Beep

    Tonight my ICD made 2 long beeps (about 30-45 secs in length). Does this actually mean the battery is getting low, or could it be something a little more. I thought it was programed to let me know at 8:45am if anything happened.

    You need to call your doctor to find out how your particular ICD is programmed. You should call right away.

      Call the EP service asap and tell them what is going on and let them help you figure out if you need a trip to the ER or if it can wait until Monday. BUT CALL.

      Therapy - ICD (implanted 97, 01, 04 and 11, medication
      Currently not obstructed
      Complications - unnecessary pacemaker and stroke (unrelated to each other)

        Thanks Sarah and Lisa~
        I called last night and the Dr said that he "thinks" its the battery is depleting. But I thought that "nurse Bob" said he programed it to let me know that at 8:45am if something was wrong. Nothing went off this morning. I've had pain in my left shoulder around the incision area for about 2 weeks. It actually is uncomfortable to lift my left arm above my head, so I hope it is not anything more than the battery life.

            Brian you should probably have gone to the ER by now if not please go.. were you near any large speakers when it happened? Happened to me once when I was dusting the speakers, the magnets in them did it. Sounds like a warning beep that you may have been too close to something with magnets.

              My device was last replaced in March of 05. I think im gonna head in there tomorrow morning. When I called the Dr. on Sat. night he said either come down or call on Monday...I think Ill just go down.

              Pam I was near nothing electronic. I was actually getting ready to bring some suitcases down cellar. I would have probably taken the ride in last night, but the snow kept me from wanting to do that.

                Bryan,

                Do you know if you have the recalled wire from Medtronic? My device is programmed to beep if there's a problem with this wire. Nonetheless, please see you doctor!

                  I do have the recalled leads, but that doesn't seem to be the problem. The problem seems to be...........No one knows. The only explanation I can get is I must have been close to a magnet. I was in my bedroom getting ready to bring suitcases into the cellar. Its never happened before. The only electronic devices I have in my room are the TV and satellite receiver. So when I got home I stood in front of both to see if I could recreate the sound, nothing. So I can defiantly eliminate those 2 things.

                    Well "Nurse Bob" called back today and said that they had sent out a disk to Medtronic to see if they could find anything. Medtronic had called back and said they caught something. They said that I was having PVC's. Ive had 13,000 since october. The sent out another disk today to see if I have had any since Monday. They think it could possibly be the Fidelis Lead, But want to be 100% sure before we go any further.
